Please make reservation directly with the hotel via phone or email and inquire about the discounted Columbia-Lamont rate.

Travel to Lamont Campus

There will be 2 shuttles departing Columbia University’s Morningside campus at 7:15 AM sharp on Tuesday Nov 17 and at 7:45 AM sharp on Wednesday Nov 18 to drop off participants at Lamont Campus/Monell Building. These shuttles will park on Amsterdam Avenue between 117th and 118th St (approximate location due to limited street parking). These same shuttles will depart Lamont Campus/Monell Building at ~6:40 PM on Tuesday, November 17, to drop off participants at Columbia University Faculty House, for the evening reception. On Wednesday, November 18, the shuttles will depart at 6:50 PM to drop off participants at Amsterdam Avenue between 117th and 118th St.

In the case that you miss the morning shuttles or need to arrive/depart at any point during the Conference, please refer to the regular Columbia intercampus shuttle service.

If you are staying at a hotel outside Manhattan, please arrange with your hotel to have drop-off/pick-up service to Lamont Campus. If you are driving your vehicle, please inform the guard at the entrance gate that you are attending the El Nino 2015 Conference at Monell building.

Car service can be reserved through Luna Limo (lunalimo@aol.com). Please note that you would be responsible for the payment of this service.

Columbia Morningside Campus is located at 116th St & Broadway, New York, NY 10027.

Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory is located at 61 Route 9W, Palisades, NY 10964-8000.

 

Morning registration

On both days, please check in with our volunteers and pick up your name badge upon arrival. As seating in the auditorium is limited, we ask that you wear your badge at all time during the Conference and evening reception to ensure access.

Breakfast will be served during morning registration. Coffee/tea will be available throughout the day.

Speakers and Panelists 

Please inform us if you will have presentation slides (saved in both PPT and PDF format) and send them to us before 4PM EST Monday November 16. This will be essential for programming and live-streaming during the Conference. The auditorium computer’s operating system is Mac OS X Yosemite.

Posters

If you plan to present a poster, please be sure to inform us of the title and author(s). The poster dimensions are recommended to be 4 ft X 3 ft (or 48 in x 36 in. Posters will be posted on walls or mounted to poster boards on tripods (as wall space runs out). Our volunteers will assist you with this process during check-in.

Lunch

On both days, lunch will be served at Lamont Hall, just steps away from Monell building on our scenic Lamont Campus. In the case of inclement weather, please pack an umbrella.

Evening Reception

On Tuesday, November 17, we invite you to join us for an evening reception at 7:45 PM at the Columbia University Faculty House, located at 64 Morningside Dr, New York, NY 10027. Entrance to the Faculty House is located on 116th St.

If you arrived at Monell Auditorium via the conference shuttles, these same shuttles will depart Lamont Campus/Monell Building at ~6:40 PM on Tuesday, November 17, to drop off participants at Faculty House for the evening reception.

***After the evening reception (in Manhattan) on Tuesday, please let us know if you need transportation back to your hotel (NY/NJ area only). We must arrange this in advance***
