Climate Change in Latin America: Challenges and Opportunities

At a recent conference, Walter Baethgen discussed existing opportunities for climate change adaptation, especially with efforts started by first improving adaptation to current climate. The event, Climate Change: From Challenges to Opportunities, was held in Montevideo, Uruguay and was convened by former Costa Rican president Jose M. Figueres and Enrique Iglesias, the former president of the Inter-American Development Bank, now the secretary-general of the Ibero-American Cooperation Secretariat. Biodiversity in Tropical Andes
The tropical Andes are probably richer in biodiversity than any comparable area on Earth. How climate change is likely to affect this fragile region is the topic of a book recently published by the
