NASA: Connecting Students to Scientists

IRI is the latest location for NASA’s nationwide DEVELOP program, which fosters an interdisciplinary research environment for interns to work on applied science under the guidance of NASA and partner science advisors. IRI research scientist Pietro Ceccato will advise two projects this coming spring that use NASA's Earth observation capabilities to assess risks of malaria in Ethiopia as well as to monitor crops in Uruguay. This new NASA collaboration will allow students from Columbia University and other U.S. institutions to come to IRI during the spring, summer and fall semesters.
