As the rest of the country, rainfall is almost evenly distributed year
around, which can be seen from the figure that shows days with rainfall
per months. All the month have an average of 10 days where rain falls.
The rains in winter are produced by cold fronts reaching Uruguay
and especially the coast from the Atlantic. The large rainfall amounts
found in January and February are produced by humidity advection from continent
interior by northeasterly winds.
Temperature has a distigt annual cycle characteristics of subtropical
latitudes with minima in winter, when also some days with temperatures
below zero can be expected.
