WHO/TDR Training Modules

WHO/TDR, in collaboration with and funding support from IDRC-Canada, has developed a research initiative aimed at enabling assessment and mitigation of the impacts of interrelated social, environmental and climate changes on the vector-borne diseases’ burden of vulnerable populations in Africa.

A significant part of the WHO/TDR-IDRC research initiative is about building capacity to ensure that the network of researchers (i.e., community-of-practice) will have the requisite know-how to generate and use the evidence necessary to reduce population health vulnerabilities in a sustainable manner. Thus, IRI has developed the following training modules to strengthen the multidisciplinary research teams’ capabilities to collect, analyze and integrate data resulting from the research on the climate and health nexus.

Overall objective

The overall objective is to build capacity for interdisciplinary climate and health policy-oriented research.

Course Content

This course has two components. The first component, Module I, is an online module to prepare the participant with the background climate knowledge needed to best understand Module II and Module III. The second part is a face-to-face seminar that will be held on June 24-30, 2013 at the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development Nairobi, Kenya. The course materials for Module II and Module III are meant to supplement the information communicated at this event.
