The IRI hosted a 4 week science and training visit from scientists from ICPAC, Ethiopia and Uganda, one each from the national meteorological service/ICPAC and one from a collaborating university/training centre in each country. The six African scientists were trained by IRI scientists, and assisted them to develop a programme of research to advance their organisations seasonal forecasting capability, including development of the prototype climate services and in formulating training modules in seasonal climate prediction. The visit is part of Strengthening Climate Information Partnerships – East Africa, a UKaid-funded project of the WISER programme.   A visitor  from Rwanda Meteo under CCAFS Rwanda Climate Services for Agriculture project also joined the training.
