Free To Use
All IRI forecasts are free to use without a license, and can be visually analyzed using our free Data Library. All images derived from these should be cited as described in our citations section below.
Operational Forecast Data Information
Seasonal forecast data older than 6 months (delayed) can be downloaded for free.
Subseasonal forecast data older than 1 month (delayed) can be downloaded for free.
Current seasonal and sub seasonal forecasts may be downloaded with a license. Non-commercial licenses are free to use and commercial licenses are available for:
- $30,000/year (12 months)
- $16,000/half-year (6 months)
- $9,000/quarter-year (3 months)
For commercial organizations that use the forecasts for commercial derivative products, we charge a royalty of 15% of net sales. Details are included in the licensing.
Request a License
Only request a license if you need access to the raw forecast data. The forecast images are free to use.
To apply for a license for the raw forecast data, please sign up here: License Request. You can use a Google, Bitbucket, Github account or you can create one with an email account. You will be directed to a form to provide more information about how you intend to use the data (commercial, non-commercial, non-profit) for your request to be reviewed. Once your request is reviewed, you will either be granted a non-commercial license or directed to correspond with our commercial licensing contact.
