Weston Anderson (he/him) studies the dynamics of climate variability and its relation to food security using reanalysis products, remote sensing observations and model simulations. He has recently been working on (1) what causes multiple breadbasket failures, (2) what has caused recent food crises in Africa, and (3) how global-scale modes of climate variability, such as the El Niño Southern Oscillation and the Madden-Julian Oscillation pose a risk to major agricultural production regions.
