Training Needs

The project provides for the training of participating scientists in crop-weather and integrated assessment modeling, which is the basic operation in the project. The Indian Institute of Management in Ahmadabad, India has agreed to conduct a training workshop for this purpose, under the guidance of Prof. P R Shukla. The participants will be the Sri Lankan scientists engaged in the project.

We would also like to get the services of an agricultural scientist who could visit Sri Lanka and provide on-site training in the assessment of impacts and adaptation studies. This is to ensure that after the participating scientists receiving the preliminary training in India and collecting the necessary data that they are on the right track. We hope to get in touch with the Indian Agricultural Research Institute for this purpose. Any suggestion for other sources is welcome.

Towards the latter part of the project, it is envisaged to conduct a training programme for the benefit of young scientists interested in pursuing climate change related assessment research. This will be open to both natural and social scientists already working in the field.
