WHO/TDR Training Modules ======================== WHO/TDR, in collaboration with and funding support from IDRC-Canada, has developed a research initiative aimed at enabling assessment and mitigation of the impacts of interrelated social, environmental and climate changes on the vector-borne diseases' burden of vulnerable populations in Africa. A significant part of the WHO/TDR-IDRC research initiative is about building capacity to ensure that the network of researchers (i.e., community-of-practice) will have the requisite know-how to generate and use the evidence necessary to reduce population health vulnerabilities in a sustainable manner. Thus, IRI has developed the following training modules to strengthen the multidisciplinary research teams’ capabilities to collect, analyze and integrate data resulting from the research on the climate and health nexus. Overall objective ----------------- The overall objective is to build capacity for interdisciplinary climate and health policy-oriented research. Audience --------- Research groups working on the TDR/IDRC research initiative on Population Health Vulnerabilities to Vector-Borne Diseases: Increasing Resilience under Climate Change Conditions in Africa Facilitators ------------- **Sylwia Trzaska**, Associate Research Scientist at the `Center for International Earth Science Information Network `_ **Brad Lyon**, Research Scientist at the `International Research Institute for Climate and Society `_ **Pietro Ceccato**, Research Scientist at the `International Research Institute for Climate and Society `_ **Madeleine Thomson**, Senior Research Scientist at the `International Research Institute for Climate and Society `_ Online Course Developers ------------------------ **Jeff Turmelle**, IT Manager, Lead Systems and Network Analyst/Programmer at the `International Research Institute for Climate and Society `_ **Igor Khomyakov**, Intermediate Systems Programmer/Analyst at the `International Research Institute for Climate and Society `_ **Gilma Mantilla**, Senior Staff Associate at the `International Research Institute for Climate and Society `_ **Ashley Curtis**, Staff Associate at the `International Research Institute for Climate and Society `_ **Samantha Garvin**, Senior Research Staff Assistant at the `International Research Institute for Climate and Society `_ Course Content -------------- This course has two components. The first component, Module I, is an online module to prepare the participant with the background climate knowledge needed to best understand Module II and Module III. The second part is a face-to-face seminar that will be held on **June 24-30, 2013** at the **Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development Nairobi, Kenya**. The course materials for Module II and Module III are meant to supplement the information communicated at this event. .. toctree:: :maxdepth: 2 :numbered: Module_I Module_II Module_III
