Sofía Martínez Sáenz
Senior Research Staff Assistant
Sofía graduated with a master’s degree in climate and society from Columbia University in 2013. She focused her studies on the impacts of climate change on economic development and policy. She is interested in investigating available adaptation alternatives in local contexts. In 2012, Sofia graduated from Boston College with a BA in economics and Italian.
Role at the IRI
Sofía works as a senior research staff assistant on the Financial Instruments Sector Team at the IRI. She has developed educational and implementation-oriented participatory exercises for satellite-based index insurance projects and indexed disaster management tools. She has been part of the coordination efforts for index insurance projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
